Question 1

My child has never programmed. Is that a problem?

Accepted Answer

No — it's the assumption. Program 1 starts from "what is a variable" and doesn't assume any electronics either.

Question 2

A full academic year. Is that really necessary?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and it's why this works. You cannot build ten machines and learn to debug them in a six-week camp. That said, the first graded build is finished in the first term — you'll see real output early.

Question 3

Can the online version really teach hands-on skills?

Accepted Answer

The kit ships to your home and every session is live with cameras on and the workbench in frame. The trainer watches the wiring, not just the face. Build demos are performed live in a single unedited take, and the viva is identical. The one difference: no soldering at home, so headers arrive pre-soldered.

Question 4

What if we miss a session?

Accepted Answer

We work through this with every family individually — ask us during your free trial session, before you enrol.

Question 5

Do we need to buy anything else?

Accepted Answer

No. Kit, materials and software are included. You need a laptop or desktop with a USB port and reliable home internet — we'll confirm the exact spec with you before your kit ships.

Question 6

Is it safe to have batteries and electronics at home?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and it's designed that way. Nothing in this course touches mains electricity. Batteries are the protected type, charging happens under supervision, and there's no home soldering.

Question 7

Does my child keep the robots?

Accepted Answer

For the online track, yes — the kit ships to your home and is yours. In-person cohorts share lab kits during sessions; we'll confirm exactly what goes home with you when you enrol.

Question 8

Will they just copy code from the internet?

Accepted Answer

They can try. They won't pass. Every build ends with a trainer introducing a fault or asking for a live modification.

Question 9

Does the robot understand voice commands?

Accepted Answer

No — the sound module detects a sound level crossing a threshold (an acoustic event, like a clap), not speech or specific words. We tell students this on day one.

Question 10

Is a real rocket launch included in the satellite module?

Accepted Answer

No. The satellite module builds and flies a CanSat-class descent payload — a sensor package dropped from a safe height that logs and transmits data during descent. No rocket, no orbital mechanics.

Question 11

What happens after Program 1?

Accepted Answer

Program 2 picks up computer vision and machine learning on the rover, PID control in full, ROS fundamentals, PCB design and 3D-printed chassis — building on the hardware and code your child already owns.

Question 12

My child's school has a tinkering lab. Can you run this there?

Accepted Answer

Yes — we deliver Program 1 as a school programme, with teacher training and an assessment rubric included. Get in touch and we'll walk you through it.

Question 13

What if my child is 11, or 17?

Accepted Answer

Talk to us. The age band is set by the hands-on electronics work and the maths level, not a hard rule.
